USAutomatic Sprinkler Corporation Issues Fire Sprinkler Systems Freeze Warning!
(CARMEL, IN) - USAutomatic Sprinkler Corporation, a fire protection company specializing in complete Life Safety System Services issues an urgent warning to all facilities maintenance and management personnel about the risk of substantial water damage from frozen sprinkler systems. Recent freezing temperatures and high winds can cause wet pipe and dry pipe sprinkler systems to be vulnerable to freeze damage. Ensure that all Wet Pipe Systems and Dry Pipe Systems are immediately checked for freeze damage.
TO REDUCE THE POSSIBILITY OF WATER DAMAGE:
Visually inspect for the following: DRY SYSTEMS: 1) Check all low point drains. Look for cracked pipes and fittings. 2) Check the dry pipe valve. Is it tripped? 3) Check all inspector's test connections for cracked pipe and fittings. 4) Check attic piping. Look for cracked pipes and fittings. Inspect the sprinklers. Are the seats damaged by ice plugs? 5) Check all piping in areas susceptible to introduction of cold air from recent high winds. WET SYSTEMS: 1) Check systems in warehouses and all wet system piping that may be susceptible to introduction of cold are from recent high winds. 2) Look for cracked pipes and fittings. 3) Look for sprinkler head seats damaged by ice plugs. 4) Check inspector's test connections for cracked pipe and fittings.
